Reflect Responsibly

I heard this story a long time ago.

There was a person coming to a new village, relocating & he was wondering if he would like it there, so he went to the Guru and asked,
Do you think I will like it in this village?
Are the people nice?

The Guru asked back,
How were the people on the town where you come from?
“They were nasty & greedy, they were angry & lived for cheating and stealing,” said the newcomer.

Those are exactly the type of people we have in this village, said the Guru.

Another newcomer to the village visited the master & asked the same question, to which the master asked,
How were the people in the town where you come from?
“They were sweet & lived in harmony, they cared for one another & for the land, they respected each other & they were seekers of spirit,” he replied.

Those are exactly the type of people we have in this village, said the Guru.

End of the story.

Doesn’t this apply to our life aswell. Whether personal or professional, what we are inside is what we experience outside.

It’s hard to swallow this, but the truth is, what we see in others is our own reflection.

One way I adapt to detox my thoughts is to introspect every night, analyse, negate what doesn’t help my growth & start every day with fresh positive & hopeful outlook.
